Determining the ideal age for your child to begin music lessons is a common query among parents. Introducing your child to music from a young age can yield significant benefits in the future. However, it's essential to consider their readiness for instrument exploration or vocal training, which may vary based on factors like dexterity and vocal development. Our experienced teachers can evaluate your child's readiness during a trial lesson and provide personalized recommendations.
Around the age of four, you can encourage your child to recognise melodies or identify specific instruments such as the piano or violin.
Generally, it's advisable to wait until your child is at least five years old before starting guitar, drums, or cello lessons. At this age, they can begin to grasp vocal techniques within their range, incorporating concepts like breath support, placement, posture, and positioning.
Woodwind instruments are typically introduced at a later stage, around the age of ten, when children have developed more physical coordination and lung capacity.
However, it's never too late to start exploring musical pursuits, so if your child is older, don't hesitate to begin their musical journey now.
Absolutely NO! Age should never be a barrier to pursuing your passion. Whether you're exploring an instrument for the first time, returning to it after a hiatus, or seeking to enhance your existing skills, the journey of learning music is always open to you, regardless of your age.
Absolutely! Prior to enrolment, we provide a complimentary 30-minutes one-on-one trial session for all prospective students. Acapella Academy understands that unforeseen circumstances may arise. To ensure a smooth experience, we offer flexible options for managing your lessons.
Dedicated practice and unwavering commitment are the keys to building a thriving music career. From the initial stages of learning to mastery, consistent practice remains fundamental to your progress and accomplishments.
To maximise the benefits of your lessons, it's crucial to dedicate time to practice between sessions. For young children, we recommend 15 minutes of practice, four or five times per week. As children progress beyond the age of 7, they should aim for a minimum of 20 minutes of practice daily, maintaining a frequency of four to five times per week. Intermediate students are encouraged to dedicate at least 20 minutes per day to practice, with a similar frequency. Advanced students, particularly those preparing for exams, should allocate 45 to 60 minutes daily, again, practicing four to five times per week.
How long does it take to attain proficiency in playing or singing?
Achieving musical proficiency requires a combination of passion and perseverance. The timeline for mastering musical skills varies depending on the amount of time invested in lessons and practice. Most beginners can expect to play or sing some beautiful melodies in school concerts after approximately 24 lessons. However, reaching the levels of modern-day music icons like Ed Sheeran or Billie Eilish demands extensive additional practice. They often recount tales of dedicating countless hours to refining their craft and creating groundbreaking music.
We provide a platform for talented young musicians to discover their musical potential and pursue their aspirations. Our focus is on nurturing creativity and guiding students to unleash their full musical capabilities. With our team of expert music teachers, we aim to instil a lifelong passion for music in every student.
Indeed, we do offer group classes, specifically tailored for young beginners. While private lessons offer personalised attention, group sessions foster peer interaction, which is invaluable for students. Observing their peers perform can instill confidence and help them overcome performance anxiety. Additionally, group lessons facilitate communication and collaboration among students as they work together to master instruments or refine their vocal skills.
We also offer the option for classes with two students, suitable for families or groups of friends seeking music lessons together.
Regarding parental involvement, if your child feels more comfortable having you present during the initial lessons, we welcome your participation. Your presence can contribute to establishing positive practice routines at home. However, we encourage children to attend lessons independently thereafter to foster their independence and confidence. Our teachers will provide regular updates on your child's progress, and if your assistance is needed, they will discuss how you can best support your child's musical journey.
Our lessons are available in two durations: 30 minutes and 60 minutes.

Concerns about a child losing interest in music are not uncommon among parents. Maintaining enthusiasm for music can be challenging, but with dedication and support, it's possible to reignite their passion.
When a student begins to show signs of waning interest, it's important for parents to intervene thoughtfully.
One effective strategy is to set concrete goals, such as pursuing graded exams. These exams provide a tangible objective for the child to work towards, instilling a sense of accomplishment and renewed motivation upon completion. By passing an exam, students often gain a newfound confidence in their abilities, spurring them to excel further.
Additionally, participating in band performances or ensemble training can reignite a child's love for music. Collaborative music-making fosters a sense of camaraderie and excitement, making practice sessions more engaging and rewarding. Our tailored rehearsal programs are designed to enhance musical skills and nurture individual talents, providing a supportive environment for growth and development.
Beyond traditional lessons, students can explore a variety of music activities to reignite their passion. Our professional instructors offer a range of training sessions and classes aimed at honing performance skills and refining each student's unique musical style.
Surprise your loved ones with the opportunity to learn an instrument or explore their vocal talents. Music lesson packages are a unique and thoughtful gift that can spark a lifelong passion.
